3D Settings

Your 3D settings play a big role in your overall game play, and the appearance of the race track. For the best computers, you'll be able to have your 3D settings at the max. For slower or older computers, reducing the settings will result in less laggy game play. It's great having a fully customizable setting which allows you to change it to what you want!

If you are experiencing under 40FPS (Frames Per Second) at the race track, then here are some very valuable tips to help you out.   Using the 3D settings (Top Toolbar > Settings > 3d Settings) change everything to as follows:

All check boxes unchecked
Detail set to far left (lowest setting)
Texture filter set to "flatcubic"
Max anisitropy set to 2
mipmap precision set to 0

Also, you can try this: Right click on your desktop, go to Properties, then Settings. At the bottom left "Advanced",  Monitor tab, make sure your refresh rate is set to 60 hertz.   You can also use the "Bumper View" at the race track (F7 on your keyboard), this has proven to help with your FPS. Also, using your "U" key at the track, will put your at the lowest settings possible to play the game, for those of you with older systems, or graphics cards.

Gray or Black screen at the Race Track and Garage

This is a common problem that we are getting questions about. Here is how to diagnose and repair the issue. This problem occurs if your computer cannot properly display the 3d graphics.   You need a video card capable of running DirectX 9.0c at a minimum. These are pretty common and just about any computer that shipped with XP has this.

First, lets see if we can determine the exact cause of the problem. On your computer click start, then run, type dxdiag in the run window and it will open the direct x diagnostic tool. The second tab on the top should be for display. Click this tab. The top section here should give you information about the video card in your computer, the bottom section should tell you the status of the DirectX features. All should be enabled under features. If the Device listed shows N/A then the computer cannot identify the video card properly and is using a generic windows driver that cannot display the 3d.

This is your problem. Go to the computer or video card manufacturers website and download and install the correct driver for your video card and computer combination. This should fix the issue if there was no card listed in the device section. If the device is listed but the 3d is not enabled then you still cannot display the cars.Click start, control panel, display settings, and find the 3d settings for your video card. should be a toggle to turn 3d on or off. Make sure it is enabled and then restart your computer then the game. This should fix it.

Following these steps almost always fixes this issue. Try them if you are experiencing this problem. Good Luck, and we hope you enjoy playing EV!
